#35: Latest on Wetlands in Space, SEA Blitz!

 In BioSettler

Stellie: Hey! So this is Stellie (J. Ford IV) and I’m here with Colin (Lennox) on George Washington’s (D.C.) campus.  We are just getting ready to go into the Space Exploration Alliance’s Explore Mars Legislative Blitz. The next two days we’ll be talking to our representatives in D.C. to help them understand what the space community sees as the big topics over the coming years.

Colin:  Cool, we’ll have more for you hear soon enough.

Stellie: Hey, so we are here in the Elliot School of the Space Development Institute getting ready for tomorrow’s action.

The next two days we’ll be talking to our representatives in D.C. to help them understand what the space community sees as the big topics over the coming years.

Stellie: Hey, so we are here in the Elliot School of the Space Development Institute getting ready for tomorrow’s action.

Colin: We are going to be meeting with Senators and Representatives Representatives tomorrow.  We won’t actually be meeting with any of the elected officials. Some of the things we are going to be talking about are the Humans to Mars 2019/2020 report.

Stellie: So this is actually a lovely document that Explore Mars puts out every year.  Its a nice little summary of what the current state of exploration actually is. This is great because its somewhat of a solution neutral breakdown of the whole mission architectures that are available nowdays.  So regardless of your leanings in terms of technical or political backing space avenues, you can have a look at where you are at.

Colin: Well said.  And we are going to be doing meetings all day, and all day after that as well, so we are really looking forward to it.  This is my, personally, first time on Capital Hill. I guess this is your first time too, right?

StellI: Yeah, first time on Capital Hill.

Colin:  Ok, so really looking forward to it.  And then we are representing eight or nine organizations that are signed onto the same talking points.

Stellie: Yeah, so I don’t know them off hand but…

On Screen Text: (1) Explore Mars, (2) The Mars Society, (3) The National Society of Black Engineers, (4) Federation of Galaxy Exploration, (5) Buzz Aldrins’ Human Spaceflight Institute, (6) Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS), (7) National Space Society, and (8) The Moon Society.

Stellie: …there were more, we’ll have to look them up.

Colin: Otherwise, we are representing at least thousands of individuals that are good for these programs (100K+ when all groups are put together) and thats what [and who] we are here to advocate….

Please Check out the video to learn about our private Nasa Headquarters briefing, how things went with the meetings, and some parting thoughts on America’s Place in Space.

We’ll also do a vid with more details on our experiences soon.  Cheers! Colin.
